Ethical Issues

  • One of the biggest issues concerning Ethanol is the conflict between increasing biofuel crops and decreasing food crops.
  • Some people believed it is not right to starve people just because we want cleaner fuel.  People's health should be more concerned than cleaner fuel.
  • The use of chemicals to help produce ethanol causes pollution to the environment.

Legal Issues

  • Some states require gas pumps to be labeled if there is more than 1% of ethanol.
  • Some states require all gas pumps to be labeled if there is any ethanol in it.
  • Wyoming is the only state that labels ethanol by using "gasohol"
